For more information, here’s the press release:
Students in two French 2 classes at Gunn High School in Palo Alto got the opportunity to learn the basics of comic book writing as well as an introduction to the digital publishing world, while putting into practice their knowledge of French.
Their French teacher, Anne Dumontier, together with Danièle Archambault, Ph.D., linguist and cartoonist, combined their common interest in comics and technology to lead the 53 freshmen and sophomores through the process of creating comics using French past tenses. The project allowed the students to practice their knowledge of passé composé and imparfait and to explore the art of storytelling through sequential art. The students were enthusiastic about creating comics, a popular medium in French culture. They produced 28 pages of high quality comics. Ms. Dumontier and Dr. Archambault turned this wonderful collection of student work into an e.book.
During their last week of school, the students downloaded the e.book on the school’s iPads as well as to their own personal tablets and smartphones. This e.book is available free of charge in different formats (ePub, PDF, and Kindle) and can be downloaded from the following website:
