Comic Artist Badge Workshop for Cadette Girl Scouts in Palo Alto.
I recently led another workshop for a troop of Cadette Girl Scouts in Palo Alto, Ca. I love working with Girl Scouts. They are intelligent, creative and dynamic girls.
When I arrived at the house of the one of the leaders, the troop, adult leaders and the girls, had all the materials ready. We were able to get going almost as soon as I arrived.
The girls were so focused that we were able, to my surprise, to cover all the required steps to earn the Comic Book Artist badge. The process included learning about the world of comics, choosing a story, writing and drawing a three-panel comic strip (pencil, ink and color (optional) and sharing it. The girls chose their own topics.
I gave the girls the option of sharing their work on my website. After the workshop, the leaders scanned the comic strips and sent them to me. Look at their pages below. Aren’t they great! The girls learned quite a lot in such a short time. And they earned the legacy badge, Comic Artist. I hope they keep doing comic pages!
P.S. As a child, I was a Girl Scout (Jeannette) in Montreal, Québec. Here in Palo Alto, I led a Girl Scout troop for 12 years. I was also a GS facilitator, training Girl Scout leaders for Girl Scouts of Northern California, for many years.
